Happiness is... (Part 1)

I’ve been feeling pretty low for the last few days. I haven’t really talked about this with anyone before but I have been suffering from depression and anxiety for almost two years now, and whilst I do feel better on a whole now than I did in my final year of university, I still do have my very bad days where I feel so down I don’t want to get up or go anywhere or generally do anything.

Therefore I thought it would be nice today for a post of things that make me smile so that when I am having my down days I can look at these to help. I saw this post on Sophias Journal blog (check it out if you haven’t already) and thought I would do something similar but focusing on things that make me happy each week.

This week happiness is…

1. Cuddled up in bed with a good book

2. A hot deep bubble bath

3. Candles

4. My favourite song coming on the radio

5. Getting exciting parcels and letters in the post

6. Watching re-runs of The Hills

7. New shoes

8. New nail varnish

9. Cupcakes

10. Running

What is happiness for you?

  1. So sorry to hear about your period of depression, I've had it in the past year but things have gotten much better for me aswell. Still have those days like you though. My mum makes me happiest, but all these things are great for those bad days ! x

  2. I'm currently drinking pepperming tea which makes me happy. Thinking about the cupcake with choclate frosting on that I had for breakfast is a nice thought too. I guess you could say I'm motivated and easily satisfied by food/yummy treats?

  3. This is a lovely post, definitely things that would cheer me up (especially the shoes ;D). I did a similar post a couple of days ago - these are always one of my favourite types of post. I hope you feel better soon! ♥

  5. I'm sorry you're feeling blue. Maybe you should do/eat/buy all of the things that make you happy and see how it turns out? Baking or buying something on eBay usually make me cheer up.

  8. Sorry to hear you're feeling low. Did your depression start at uni? I've never mentioned it on my own blog before but I started on antidepressants during my final year at uni and have been on/off them since. If you ever need anyone to talk feel free to email me : )
