Craft Project – Cath Kidston Photo Frame

Christmas is my favourite time of year and with it being just around the corner, I have been trying to think of some little creative crafty gifts for Christmas.

 

You can have lots of fun creating unique gifts for family and friends and I have a number of projects that I’m going to share with you over the coming weeks.

So here is my first one: Cath Kidston paper mache photo frame.

 

 

You will need:

• An old photo frame (I got mine from a charity shop for 50p)
• Patterned tissue paper (I chose Cath Kidston paper tissues in provence rose for 85p)
• Plain white tissue paper
• PVA Glue
• Paintbrush

1) Cover the photo frame with plain white tissue paper using the PVA glue and leave to dry.

2) Tear the patterned tissue paper into small strips and using the PVA glue layer the photo frame with the patterned tissue to give it a decoupage effect.

3) Leave this layer to dry and the repeat step 2 a couple of times.

This is the final result:

It has a vintage effect because the paper has dried slightly crinkled which I think looks great!
I will be giving this photo frame as a gift to a friend who I went on holiday with year with a photo of us together.

DIY Project: Cute As A Button Tealight Holders

 

I saw this little crafty idea on the Hobbycraft website and instantly fell in love. I keep coming across the most adorable button crafts lately and I want to do them all. I’m addicted to cute little buttons as they can instantly update any old, plain treasures into lovely new creations with just a little work.

These cute tealight holders are really easy to make but they look great once completed.

You will need:

·        Tealight holder - £1 from Primark

·        Selection of small buttons (I bought mine from Ebay, which cost about £2.99 so over 200 buttons!)

·        Superglue,

1)     Add a small amount of glue to a button and place onto the tealight holder holding in place for a couple of seconds to secure.

2) Repeat this process until all your buttons are in place and your desired pattern is complete.

Interior Inspiration - Jewellery Storage

I am currently in the process of redesigning/redecorating my room. I started thinking about this a couple of months ago but have never got round to actually starting due to being so busy. I love getting inspiration for interior design off the Internet and searching for home accessories with a vintagey feel.

A big problem I currently have in my room is jewellery storage. I have soooo much jewellery – necklaces, rings, bracelets and earrings but hardly anywhere that I can store it. I have a jewellery box but I quite like the idea of my jewellery being on show so it is easy to see and choose each piece.

My Favourite Nail Art Inspirations

I very rarely see my nails nude, always paintinig my nails at least twice a week. However, I always tend to play it safe and go for just one block colour and I have always wanted to be more a bit more creative and experimental. After my nude polka dot nail art which I photographed in this post, I decided to gain some inspiration for my next nail art project.

Here are some of my favourite nail art inspirations.

Leopard

Probably one of my favourite nail arts! Ever since I saw the lovely Lauren Conrad with leopard print nails probably about a year ago, I have wanted to try them out. They are meant to be quite simple to do, which is perfect for me!

Vintage Florals

Maybe its because I work at Cath Kidston but I love floral prints on just about anything! Floral prints have been everywhere recently from dresses to trousers and now I really want them on my nails too! Vintage floral is probably my favourite nail art and these are some of my favourite floral designs which I think will be tricky to do and certainly a step up from my simple polka dots, but they are so pretty and look fabulous!

Ombre

Very simple and quick to do with no little fiddly details but still very effective is my kind of nail art!

Spots and Stripes

Again, fairly simple to do but oh so effective with so many variations and colour combinations to be used.

Christmas

Of course, with the festive season fast approaching, I found some cute Christmas inspired nail arts to share with you and its the perfect excuse to get creative. Absolutely love the glittery green one in particular!
